VOCALCOACHING

Voice Technique

Every voice can benefit from effective training.
The exercises that I have developed are specifically geared towards training the muscles involved in tone production and they are customized to meet the individual needs of my clients. As a result, your voice will develop enormous strength, become more resilient, versatile and flexible. And it doesn't matter if you're singing Pop, Rock, Soul, Classical, Musical or something else!

Voice technique is crucial for most singers. Not least because many have had bad experiences in the past or never really acquired clarification on what actually goes on in the body when one sings. Unlike with other instruments, singers can't actually ‘see' most of what they are doing.

So we singers are largely dependent on our own perceptions of our physical well being and what our bodies are trying to tell us - things that are all too willingly expressed metaphorically. And so, in the search for insight many a singer has been led astray in the world of metaphors.

I am certainly not opposed to vivid language and imagery - quite the contrary. They are an irreplaceable medium. But when I work with my clients on voice technique and function I prefer clear definitions and catchy descriptions that are fully comprehensible for both sides. This is supported by basic knowledge of the anatomy.

I am a Certified Master Teacher (CMT) in the internationally renowned Estill Voice Training System™ (EVT™) and EVT is at the core of the methods I use. What's more, based on many years of experience, I also know that when it comes to working with your voice - all roads lead to Rome - after all, every one of us is different. What works for one person does not automatically mean it can help somebody else.ESTILL-CMTbug

That's why I think it's important not only to work according to a single method but to use a range of methodical approaches. That's why I also integrate my knowledge of Terlusollogie® into my work along with elements from SpeechLevelSinging (SLS™), developed by Seth Riggs.

Ultimately, in my view, when it comes to voice technique it's all about improving perceptions, cognitive processes and control - learning how to consciously influence and improve the way you sound. After all, all tones and sounds should be allowed as long as they don't harm the voice. I can assure you that this is possible. As I mentioned before, from Pop to Rock, Classical and Opera, from Falsetto to Speech to Growling and Belting - the good news is that everything is possible!
